"There's a Message in the Madness: Interpreting Dialogue with Multiple Character Texts"
How do interpreters handle texts that have more than one character? What if they are talking at the same time? Some speakers use a style that seems too complex to interpret. Role shifting is only one element that can help make a message clearer. This workshop is designed to help educational interpreters understand and practice identifying the main point of a speaker’s message and to figure out a way to interpret that so it is clear to the consumer.

What is ICRID R.A.P.S.?
R.A.P.S. stands for Read, Analyze, Ponder, and Share. This is a great opportunity for Indiana interpreters to earn CEUs by gathering with colleagues in your area to discuss articles relating to the interpreting field.
How does it work?
Register for the date of the roundtable discussion in your area you would like to attend. You will receive an email with the article that will be discussed. Read the article and answer the discussion questions prior to attending the roundtable discussion group. Moderators at your site will monitor and guide the discussion to encourage focus on the topic and interaction among those present. You MUST bring your completed discussion questions to the roundtable and hand them to the moderator before the meeting begins.
ICRID R.A.P.S. is expanding. Starting in September we will have 6 locations around the state: Indianapolis (South), Carmel, Mishawaka, Hammond, Evansville, and Fort Wayne. If you would like to host an ICRID R.A.P.S. session in your area please contact Lisa Harmon triterplh@yahoo.com or Anne Harrigan 1mal@icrid.org
