Volunteer and Community Service Opportunities

Interpreters/Support Service Provider (SSP) Volunteers Needed
 

The Indiana DeafBlind Association is looking for Interpreters/Support Service Providers to work
with the DeafBlind attendees at the bi-monthly meeting which is on the first Saturday of month.
The location usually varies. No experience required but we will train you before the meeting
begins if it's your first time. Hearing people with ASL skills are very much welcome. We usually
need between 10 to 15 Interpreters/SSPs.

 

The next meeting will be on
Sat. Dec. 1st, 2007
Brownsburg Library in Brownsburg, IN
10 am to 3 pm. Lunch will be provided.

Future meeting dates are:

o February 2nd, 2008- Indy

o April 5th, 2008 - Ft. Wayne

o June 7th, 2008 - Indy

o August 2nd, 2008- Muncie

o October 4th, 2008 - Indy

o December 6th, 2008- Ft. Wayne

 

All who are interested in becoming Interpreters/ Support Service Providers need to
commit to the following:

o to attend DeafBlind training when available;

o to be flexible with the time and meeting setting;

o to use spoken English interpreting when qualified (this applies to hearing volunteers);

o to be available at least two times during the year (we meet six times during the year);

o to transport members to the meeting if you live nearby.
