PINRA:
Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities

Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities (PINRA) include activities that an interpreter wishes to attend but which are not offered by an RID approved sponsor. The activity must be sponsored by an organization with specific known standards and must have a specific format, educational objectives and purpose.

Processing CEUs for non-ICRID members will cost $10 per PINRA activity.

Benefits of Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities

  • Makes almost any activity an opportunity to earn CEUs
  • Enables you to find activities suited to what you want to study

What Qualifies as a PINRA?

  • Audited college courses
  • Non-credit courses at an educational institution
  • Corporate trainings
  •  Community education
  • Non-mandatory school district in-services
  • Organizational conventions/workshops

Steps to Complete a PINRA

1) Obtain information about the conference, workshop or seminar you want to attend. This includes providing the activity promotional material, agenda, and summary of learning objectives for the activity to be considered for PINRA. The CMP Sponsor will not be responsible for searching a website to find this clarification.

2) Fill out the PINRA form and email the promotional information to cmp@icrid.org  30 days prior to the commencement of the activity.

3) The ICRID CMP Sponsor will determine if the activity is CEU-worthy. In some cases where the application to interpreting is not clear the participant may be asked to provide a narrative outlining how information learned will be applied to their work. The CMP will also confirm which category the activity falls under: General Studies, GS, vs. Professional Studies, PS, and how many CEUs can be awarded for the activity.

4)Attend the conference or seminar and collect appropriate documentation for proof of attendance, i.e. a copy of the program book, certificate of attendance, or agenda. Send the documentation to the CMP via email at cmp@icrid.org. Information on attendance cannot be accepted if more than 30 days have passed since the activity.

***PLEASE NOTE: These activities are not eligible for CEUs: Board or committee meetings, entertainment, Activities that are part of one’s employment, company education programs, or routine employment activities.
