Committee reports

Annual Meeting

Committee is finalizing theme.

Dates are Nov 14 and 15, 2003 in French Lick, IN.

ASR

To date, ten paid registrations have come in. Deadline for discounted rate is March 23rd. Advertising has been good. Rebecca Buchan sent out email to all interpreters registered with DHHS.

Mike Jackson unable to present. Donald Tinsley will present on Black Deaf History and Culture.

Donations chair, Cat Huston is hard to contact. Do we know any small businesses that can help with donations?  Rebecca has been working on things, but cannot do everything herself.

Angela Myers will send out an email looking for help securing donations.

Carrie has also sent emails out to deaf friends who have their own businesses, looking for donations in exchange for their business cards to be placed on a table.

Dianne Riddick will help Carrie send out letters for donations.

Volunteers to work

Outside people working, but Board who attends will need to help work registration and t-shirt sales.

Randy, Bob, and Nancy will do registration tables. Dave will do t-shirt sales.

There will be four workshops on Saturday that are CEU approved. They are listed as games, but that is semantics

Workshops:

Fun With Classifiers-- Jill Lestina PS

Black Deaf History and Culture-- Donald Tinsley PS

Multi Meaning Signs-- Christine Wood PS

What Color Are You Most Like? —Terri Waddell- Motter GS

Looking into some equipment needs for the presenters. Will check with assessment center. Will also check with Dr. Roy at IUPUI. Terri Waddell-Motter works in the assessment center.

Clarification regarding CEUs: ASR is focused on students for total immersion experience. Interpreters have not come because they feel they don't belong, and they need to get CEUs for certification. So the board decided to provide CEUs to get interpreters to come back.

Need to get someone to be the "cop" to catch people who use their voices.

Sleeping arrangement- back in Koob/Fair Hall KRC sleeping on gym floor. Pod area for workshops. Do not have second floor lounge kitchen. Will use coolers for drink.

Awards and Scholarship

Candidate who received MM scholarship: Has some confusion regarding how many tests the money covers. Explanation taken care of by Dave Calvert. Requirements for scholarship application are on the web. Also in INSIGHTS.
