Distance Opportunities for Interpreter Training Center (DO IT)
University of Northern Colorado
Diagnostic
Assessment and Skills Training Series Information
The Distance
Opportunities for Interpreter Training Center (DO IT) and the University of
Northern Colorado are promoting two interpreter training programs that may be
of interest to your constituency; the new Bachelor of Arts in American Sign
Language-English Interpreting and the Diagnostic Assessment and Skills
Professional Development Training Series.
This
Bachelor of Arts in ASL – English
Interpretation Program is a unique program in that it has been
designed for distance delivery through the DO IT Center to impact the national
need for highly qualified ASL-English interpreters. As well, it has been
designed for the purpose of preparing confident interpreter candidates to
achieve national certification and to enter the profession as competent,
autonomous practitioners.
The Diagnostic Assessment and
Skills Training Series
is a 3 semester program designed to help the interpreter analyze and improve
both their ASL to English and English to ASL competencies. This professional
development series has been developed to meet the needs of novice interpreters
through nationally certified interpreters. This series is offered in
collaboration with the RSA Mid-America Regional Interpreter Education (MARIE)
Center.
Application deadlines for these two programs are March 5th and
April 16th respectively.
