| ICRID Home | Maintaining your CertificationAn important part of being a Certified Interpreter is maintaining that certification through obtaining CEUs or Continuing Education Units. Below is the information you will need to obtain CEUs in various avenues. The links for the various forms are below each heading. All forms are in PDF format. RID Sponsored Activity1. Register and attend an RID sponsored event. Academic Course WorkThis does not have to be specifically related to interpreting, but must have value to you as an interpreter. Independent Study (IS)This includes things such as: a trip overseas, a comparative analysis of two languages, Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities (PINRA)These include any workshop, in-service or lecture series that will be beneficial to you as an interpreter. These do not have to be specific to the process of interpreting.
In all cases, after all documentation has been submitted, the sponsor will file the paperwork with RID for application of CEUs.
